BRADFORD mixed martial arts fighters Jabeed Rahman and Callum Mullen shone on their trip to Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

Fighting on the Cage Warriors promotion, they both came away with fine victories.

Rahman was the first Bradford fighter to enter the cage, as he faced up to Damon Donald from Aberdeen. The fight was watched by more than 7,000 spectators in the arena.

Rahman stepped up in weight and took on the fight at a week's notice. He showed his opponent why he is a multiple-time British champion by controlling the fight with excellent kickboxing and wrestling, winning by unanimous decision.

Next up was Callum Mullen, who was challenging Liverpool’s Mark Smith for the Featherweight Cage Warriors title.

Mullen holds British titles in MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but he knew that earning the Cage Warriors crown would open up some excellent opportunities for him when he turns professional later this year.

Mullen started the fight by establishing distance with some fast and painful boxing, which led the Liverpool man to try and wrestle.

The Bradford fighter controlled his opponent before taking him down with a big slam and punches. This led to a submission with just a second left before the end of round one.

The head coach of BradfordMMA.com, Mark Spencer, said: “I am very proud of Jabeed and Callum. There are already talks between our team and the Cage Warriors promotion about some very interesting opportunities for our fighters.

"Last week, we had Jack Temple fighting for a European title. On Saturday, we captured another British title.

"We have three people competing in the British Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship and we are non-stop … it is a very exciting time.”
