A JUNIOR Bradford kickboxer has won two gold medals and a silver medal at the WTKA (World Traditional Karate Kickboxing Associaion) Unified World Championships in Italy.

Weighing only 51kg, Raeece Hussain from Clayton won gold in the Muay Thai category and the K1 category before winning silver in the 59kg category.

The 13-year-old has been kickboxing for two-and-a-half-years and now trains five times a week at Junior Jam in Wyke, where he practises K1, and Calder Thai Boxing Academy in Halifax, where he practises Muay Thai.

His father Araf Hussain said: “Raeece represented England in April, so that meant he qualified for the Worlds in Italy.

“He won the K1 at Muay Thai category so I decided to enter him into the 59kg category, where he would be competing against boys a lot heavier than him. To get to the final and finish second is an outstanding achievement.”

Raeece, whose trip to Italy was sponsored by Ian Roper from National Breakdown, is competing next at the WKU Championships in Birmingham on Sunday, November 27.
