BRADFORD Bulldogs' under-13s team finished the season on a high by winning the prestigious Sheffield Tournament.

On the back of triumphing in the Northern League and a bronze medal in the Nationals, the team travelled to the steel city to compete against junior teams from Blackburn, Cardiff, Swindon, Basingstoke, Haringey and the hosts.

The Bulldogs beat five teams and drew once before defeating Sheffield 3-0 to take the silverware.

Bulldogs coach Andy Brown said: "The under-13s team have had another great season and have succeeded in bringing us back yet another trophy for our cabinet.

"More importantly, they have learned the value of developing their skills and striving for what they want to achieve – and they have enjoyed themselves immensely along the way."

The Bulldogs under-15s also did well in the tournament, finishing second.

The Bradford club, who this season won the EIHA development award for the second year running and the young club/team category in the Provident Bradford Sports Awards, hope the success of the teams will attract more children to play ice hockey.

They are particularly looking for players for their under-11s and under-13s squads.

Bradford Ice Arena has a beginners' stick and puck session every Wednesday (5.30-6.30pm) and any child with good skating ability from the age of six upwards can join in.
