Bradford League Division Three leaders Embassy C were given a stern examination when they faced third-placed Hermits X, with their 100 per cent record under threat.

Hermits had the better of the opening exchanges as Dave Palmer conquered Palminder Sandhu and Neil Foley while Chris Town overcame Martin Connolly to give Hermits a 3-2 lead but the leaders then flexed their muscles to reel off four sets in a row as Foley, Connolly and Sandhu all won two each to maintain their perfect start.

In the Yorkshire League, Bradford Veterans first team made a fine start to their Division One programme, taking five points from their three matches. They beat York-1 10-0, Dewsbury-1 6-4 and drew with Doncaster.

In Division Three, Mick Kosmowsky and George Bak led Bradford-2 to a 7-3 derby victory over Bradford-3 with three wins each. Paul Mckrieth and Chris Town replied with a single each for the third team.

* The league management committee have taken disciplinary action against two teams following a recent Division One fixture.

Dewsbury Sedbergh and Highdale B met recently and words were exchanged between Ian Denton of Sedbergh and Peter Morgan of Highdale which led to both teams filing a complaint to the league.

The committee decided that both players were out of order and have deducted five points from each team and warned them both that further action will be taken if any other incidents occur.
