Dave Cowsill (Alverthorpe) and Chris Mordue (Brighouse Sports) were the final qualifiers for the GRAHAM WOOD MEMORIAL TROPHY.

Cowsill advanced with wins over Josh Mordue (Brighouse Sports) 21-5, Craig Newton (Smirthwaite) 21-17 and Matthew Parkes (Barnsley) 21-5.

Mordue was tested in every game but beat Scott Fisher (Morton House) 21-17, Nathan Webster (Smirthwaite) 21-10 and Nick White (Thongsbridge) 21-20.

The finals take place on Friday, with practice from 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Mordue and Liam Griffin (Pudsey) and Mordue have been installed as 5-2 joint favourites among a quality field.

Jack Dyson (Huddersfield) and Graham Hickey (Halifax) were the final qualifiers for the Naylor Wintersgill (Chartered Accountants)-sponsored BRIGHOUSE CLASSIC.

Dyson went through with wins over Andrew Sykes (Mirfield Old Bank) 21-15, Gareth Nicholson (Lower Hopton) 21-15 and Danny Beeby (Huddersfield) 21-16 and will now play Paul Dudley (Whitefield) in the finals.

Hickey advanced with wins over Paul Ingleby (Huddersfield) 21-13, Allan Thompson (Mirfield Old Bank) 21-16 and Paul Sigsworth (Huddersfield) 21-16. He will play Simon Coupe (Preston).

The 12th PUDSEY JUNIOR CLASSIC takes place on Sunday, September 26. Entries will be taken until 9.30am on the day, drawing at the green for a 10am start.

It is open to boys and girls aged 16 and under on the day and is handicapped by age.
