Darren Plenderleith (Sheffield) and Philip Boydell (Garswood Hall) were the latest qualifiers in the COORS Pudsey CLASSIC. Plenderleith made it through to the finals with wins over Alan Thornber (Cross Roads) 21-5, Jack Dyson (Netherton Cons) 21-19 and last year’s runner-up Simon Coupe (Preston) 21-19.

Boydell cruised through his first two games, beating Nigel Bratton (Sheffield) 21-10 and Michael McDonnell (Manchester), before edging past Stuart Mort (Wigan) 21-19.

Andrew Tate (Skipton) and John Hopkinson (Barnsley) were the qualifiers in week three of the Naylor Wintersgill-sponsored BRIGHOUSE CLASSIC.

Tate opened with a narrow 21-19 success over Darren Griffiths (Chadderton) and then eased through his second game against Ian Nicholson (Kendal) 21-14, before edging a nail-biting 21-20 clash with Matt Beever (Sheffield) to progress to finals night.

Hopkinson, who had a bye in round one, beat Chris Slater (Colwyn Bay) 21-13 and Richard Howson (Sheffield) to qualify.

Week four of qualifying takes place on Friday, with practice from 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

The final of the DERRICK RADLEY TROPHY between Cleckheaton Moor End and Cowcliffe Lib A takes place at Horbury WMC on Sunday, August 22 (noon).

The ERIC HUTCHINSON MEMORIAL TROPHY final between Shipley BC and Skipton Craven will follow at 3pm.
