Shipley Club A won 17-13 at fellow strugglers Eccleshill B to boost their chances or avoiding relegation from the BRADFORD SATURDAY LEAGUE Naylor Premier section.

Shipley carded six winners to log their first away victory of the season and leave Eccleshill, who face an uphill struggle to stay in the top flight, 30 points from safety and still looking for a first win.

Captain Andy Firth gave the hosts a great start with a 21-9 success but Shipley soon turned things around.

Guiseley A remain rooted to the foot of the table after a disastrous 26-4 home defeat to Brighouse Sports A.

The visitors carded nine winners, with Mark Regan’s 21-4 the pick of them, as only Joe Stockdale (21-16) showed much resistance.

Leaders Pudsey A were 22-8 winners against an improved Cross Roads side. Liam Griffin (21-8) starred for the hosts but Les Foster produced a great 21-9 response.

Crossgates stunned Pudsey Littlemoor A as six away winners led to a 17-13 victory, while Clayton A triumphed 21-9 at home to Eccleshill A thanks to eight successes with Barry Turnbull (21-11) the pick of them.

The qualifying round of the BRITISH PARKS INDIVIDUAL MERIT takes place on Friday, July 16, with start and scratch at 6.45pm. The finals are in Wallasey on Sunday, August 8.
