David Brown was City of Bradford’s only gold medal winner at the ASA North-East Region Senior/Junior Long Course Championships in Sunderland.

The breastroke specialist clocked a time of 30.70 seconds in the 15-18 youth and open 50 metres, earning a national qualifying time in the process.

Sian Morgan, City’s prospect for Commonwealth Games selection, again clinched an impressive array of medals in the girls 15-18 age group.

Silver medals came in the youth and senior 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle events and she continued her run of good form with bronze in the 200m freestyle and final places in the 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

Luke Constantine, swimming in the same age group, gained his second national time of the season with fourth place in the 200m individual medley. He also had final placings in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

Sam O’Donohoe clinched a bronze medal in the youth 200m backstroke and finished fifth in the equivalent open event.

James Dawson, following on from his recent success at Yorkshire level, was seventh in the youth 400m individual medley and eighth in the open event.

Other qualifiers at this prestigious event were Jamie Brown, Jessica Foulds, Hannah Midgley, Lucy Burnside, Joanna Gledhill, Nicole Fordham and Ebony Hirstle.
