The final week of the Bradford League season produced an exciting three-horse finish to the Division Two promotion race, with Embassy B the ones to miss out.

Unity B had been in the top two all season yet began the final week in third place behind Laisterdyke A and Embassy.

But Unity knew that if they won their game against Highdale C, they would be promoted as their two rivals were in opposition the following night.

Unity duly completed a 7-3 victory, despite Gabriel Wilding winning all three of his games for Highdale. The Unity trio of Dave Renton, Dave Rawlins and Jim Ferry won twice each to secure a promotion place.

Laisterdyke hosted Embassy with the losers condemned to miss out and Freddie Yeung gave his all by taking three points.

But it proved in vain as Mann Younis and Peter Holbrook both won twice and Fazal Hussain added a single for Laisterdyke, who ran out 6-4 winners to leave Embassy third.

Meanwhile, Highdale A retained the Division One title despite losing to closest rivals Police.

Mick Stead was unbeaten for Highdale but the 6-4 victory earned by the Police trio of James Brown, John Chew and Tim Dyson was not enough for them to overhaul their opponents.
