Bradford Police amateur boxing club shone in the Halifax Star show.
Bilal Ali won a unanimous decision over Grimsby’s Bradley Wilkinson in only his second bout.
Ali was giving away age, weight and experience to his opponent but gave him problems right from the start with his straight jab.
He pushed Wilkinson on to the ropes, forcing the referee to issue a standing eight count.
That set the tone for the rest of their match-up, with Ali emerging a convincing winner.
Clubmate Jake Lawrence was not so fortunate against George Andrews from York.
After a slow opening, Lawrence sprung to life in the second round catching Andrews with some effective counter shots.
Lawrence looked even sharper in the third and produced his best boxing to catch Andrews with straight shots and hooks.
But he was bitterly disappointed to find himself on the wrong end of split decision.
Bradford’s Mark Greaves left no room for doubt against Eden Whatnell, another York boxer.
Greaves gave his taller opponent grief straight away and knocked him down for a standing count within the first minute.
Referee Nigel Helliwell let Whatnell continue after recovering his senses but another straight right from Greaves correctly stopped the contest.
