Brighouse Sports A stuttered to an 18-12 home success over Eccleshill A as they started their defence of the Naylor Premier League.

James Senior (21-9) was the pick of six home winners with Eccleshill happy to leave the champions with 12 points.

Asa Briggs A had the first four winners against Crossgates as they opened up a 41-point lead.

Crossgates hit back with four winners to reduce the deficit to 27 points.

Jon Wilcox starred at No 10 with a 21-7 win to ensure the visitors left with 13 points.

Cross Roads managed eight home winners in their 23-7 defeat of Pudsey Littlemoor A, with Phil Anderson (21-7) the pick.

Thomas Hanson's 21-6 was in vain for Pudsey A in their home match with Spen Victoria A, who had John Armitage (21-8) in top form as they won 17-13. Dave Hodgson (21-3) and Gordon Flower (21-6) helped Eccleshill B edge out Clayton A 17-13.

Duncan McPhail helped Bramley Libs A to a 19-11 home victory over Wyke A in the Godwin League.

Pudsey B got the better of Spen Victoria B with seven away winners as they won 18-12, and Graham Oliver (21-9) was the pick of three winners for Guiseley A at Rufford A. However, Martin Benson (21-9) helped the hosts to a 20-10 victory.

Horsforth Woodside A were 24-6 winners over relegated and disappointed Ladyhill A.

Ian Jacques (21-5) and Nicky Dewhirst (21-9) helped Shipley Club A to a 22-8 win over Brighouse Sports B in their first match in the Bradford League.

Greengates are on the up, and opened with a stunning 27-3 home win over Queensbury A in the Observer League. Malcolm Grainger (21-9) was the pick of nine home winners.

Peter Kelly (21-6), Jenny Berry (21-6) and Doris Dunning (21-7) helped Heckmondwike to a 23-7 win over Peel A, despite a great 21-9 success from Malcolm Jowett.

West found it tough going at Pudsey Littlemoor B, as they went down 29-1, thanks to Arthur Roundhill (21-1), Andrew Woodhead (21-5) and Maurice Carter (21-9).

Another club to find it hard, was Lister A at Akroydon Victoria. Home wins from David Avery (21-4), Richard Lawton (21-4) and Ross Halstead, helped the hosts to a 24-6 win.

Craig Fenton (21-7) and Alan Haley (21-8) starred for Crowghyll A at Tyersal A. The home team replied with seven home winners, with Pat Brannan (21-6) the pick of them.

Clayton B were 25-5 home winners over struggling Knowles in the Bartle League, thanks to David Lord (21-4), Ray Day (21-6) and Alan Readyhough (21-7), despite a great 21-3 win from David Burns. Knowles are struggling for members, and have amalgamated last year's two teams into one.

Another club struggling for players are Low Moor, who went down 21-9 at BBA, despite 21-9 victories from Ken Green and Craig Boldy. Michael Church (21-2), Roy Carter (21-2), Colin Wailes (21-6) and Stephen Holmes (21-8) starred for BBA.

Steven Rothwell's 21-9 made the difference as Hove Edge beat Oakenshaw A 16-14. Bowling A and Asa Briggs B shared the points as John Sharpe and Najabat Hussain exchanged 21-9 victories.

Joe Keenan 21-4 and Jim Newsome 21-8 starred for Spen Ex-Service in their 23-7 home win over West Bradford A in the Haigh League.

Mark Durrans (21-7), John Cook (21-8) and Stuart Jessop (21-8) helped Bradford Moor A to a 17-13 win over Pudsey C, despite Geoff Hodgson's 21-8 for Pudsey.

Stanningley had nine away winners at Brackenhill A, with Terry Smith (21-4) and Mabel Shaw (21-9) helping to ensure a superb 25-5 success.

Brian Kettle produced a steaming performance as he won 21-4 in Harold Park's 21-9 defeat of Arnley Cons. Tony Hamilton (21-6) and Mick Lambert (21-8) gave Wyke B the edge as they beat Salts 17-13.

Shelf A were 19-11 victors at Queensbury B in the Riley League, thanks to a great 21-5 from Eric Jackson. Brian Raistrick showed some resistance for the home team with a masterful 21-8 victory.

Horton A are the early pacesetters as they won 22-8 at home to West Royd, thanks to Barbara Redman (21-4), Eric Jefferson (21-7) and Joyce Appleton (21-9).

Pat Lonsdale got Ladyhill B off to a flyer with a superb 21-3, but Les Wood (21-7) assisted Horsforth Woodside B to rally as the hosts edged it 16-14.

Guiseley B had a comfortable 25-5 victory over Rufford B with Roger Garnett (21-6), Margaret Orchard (21-8) and Hazel Foggarty (21-9) starring. Steve Peers 21-5 led Asa Briggs C to an 18-12 win at Birkenshaw.

Cleckheaton Sports stunned Shelf B with a 27-3 away success in the Field Packaging League, Janice Walton (21-4), Christine Bartle (21-5), Ann Watkinson (21-5) and Eddie Watkinson (21-7) doing the damage.

Another team in form are Tyersal B, who won 19-11 at Crowghyll B, thanks to Josh Mordue (21-5), Ben Woodhead (21-7), John Smith (21-8) and Lilian Simpson (21-9).

Joan Seaton's 21-4 helped Lister B to an 18-12 home success over Bowling B, and Sue Rymer (21-1), Derek Relton (21-4) and Peter Boots (21-8) were all on top form as Peel B defeated Wibsey C 22-8. Bailiff Bridge beat Horton B thanks to seven home winners.

Geoff Hanson (21-1) and Joan Brown (21-5) starred for Shipley Club B in their Mellor League match at Queensbury C, but it was not enough as Peter Gibson (21-3), Vida Wood (21-9) and Barbara Venohr (21-9) ensured a 16-14 home win.

Yvonne Edwards (21-7) and Ann Pickersgill (21-8) helped Guiseley C to a 17-13 win over Brackenhill B.

Alan Dixon produced a great 21-8 win for Bradford Moor B at Peel C but still found himself on the losing side, as the hosts edged it 16-14.

Margaret Sutcliffe got Horton C off to a flyer at West Bradford B, but it all went downhill after that as Peter Damant (21-5), Phillip Bairstow (21-5), Norman Mattocks (21-5), Stuart Graham (21-6), Geoff Dickson (21-8), Maureen Riley (21-9) and John Shoesmith (21-9) gave the home team a thumping 27-3 win.
