Newly-promoted Unity B opened their Bradford Summer League Division One programme with a home clash against Embassy A and it needed an unbeaten performance from Peter Kirby to steer the visitors to victory.
Dave Rawlins and Dave Renton both had wins over Tony Boyd and Carl White but Kirby proved a tough nut to crack and Embassy added the doubles for a 6-4 success.
In Division Two, Pudsey celebrated their return to Bradford with a fine victory over title favourites Yeadon C.
Doug Bartle starred for Pudsey with three singles wins, while Sandra Rider and John Ainley won one each and victory in the doubles gave Pudsey a 6-4 verdict.
