Bradford's snooker teams matched each other at the weekend in the Yorkshire Inter-District League.

Division One leaders Bradford No 1 travelled to second-placed Sheffield No 1 and came away with a 3-3 draw.

Wayne Cooper got the visitors off to a flying start, winning both frames comfortably against Martin Lawrence, but the teams were back on level terms after Sheffield's Mick Sanderson surprisingly won both frames against an out-of- sorts Simon Bedford.

Kevin Breeze put the hosts 3-2 in front, fortuitous running leading to a final fluked black against Sajid Khan, who played extremely well in the final frame to ensure the match finished level.

In Division Two, Bradford No 2 hosted Leeds No 2 at Manningham Ward and also ended with a 3-3 draw.

Boover Singh easily won the opening frame against Alan Trigg and looked to be heading for 2-0 before breaking down on 39, Trigg clearing to level at 1-1.

Hanif Rafiq played his best snooker of the season so far and won both frames comfortably against Lucas Duker to put the home side 3-1 in front.

Unfortunately, the usually reliable Mick Bedford had an off night and opponent Mick Ball won both frames.

Both sides have one match left before Christmas, with the No 1 side travelling to Castleford and No 2 at Wakefield No 1, both next weekend.

In billiards, Bradford hosted 2006 champions Huddersfield No 1 at Cullingworth Conservative Club and were defeated 7-0.

Losses for Brian Watson (200-131), Nigel Stebbings (200-69) and Trevor Kershaw (200-69) means that the team have yet to register a win this season and face Huddersfield No 3 away next.

In the Bradford Championships, John Wellham (Girlington Cons) beat Andy Briggs (Bingley Cons) 4-2 and Tanveer Mohammed (Manningham Ward) won 4-1 against Paul Wood (Laisterdyke WMC).

In the pairs, there was a good victory for Martin Unsworth and Andy Briggs (Bingley Cons), who beat Andy and Mark Jeffery (Gt Horton Cricket) 3-0.

All players are reminded that the deadline is this weekend for matches to be played and results must be telephoned by Monday.
