A SUTTON-in-Craven man claimed three titles at the Yorkshire Swimming Association’s annual Open Masters Championships held at Ponds Forge Sheffield.
Chris Brown looked impressive when he claimed no less than three county championship titles in the 65/69 years age group.
His wins came in his favoured events the 50m and 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly.
Nicola Jones, Brown's teammate and fellow masters swimmer at City of Bradford Swimming Club, swam five highly competitive races and came home with a medal haul.
She claimed silver medals in the 40/44 yrs age group, 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley and bronze in the 50m breaststroke and 50m and 100m freestyle.
She then went on to finish in fifth place in the 100m breaststroke.
Jones and Brown both train on the Bradford Aquatics Competition programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
Squads of City of Bradford Swimming Club's senior and age group swimmers travelled to Ponds Forge Sheffield over two weekends recently to compete in the North East Region Open and Age Group Championships.
Top ten places were hard to come by for City’s swimmers at the open event, but it was 14-year-old Rebecca Dunn, from Guiseley, who claimed a top 10 place in the Open 50m breaststroke where she brought up the rear in tenth place.
She also claimed top 20 finishes in the Open 100m and 200m breaststroke events.
Also finishing in tenth place in the girls Open 1500 freestyle was Ella Jones in a time of 19.42.88
Keighley’s Sam Akers had two top 20 finishes in the Open 800m and 1500m freestyle events in times of 9.17.49 and 17.58.76 respectively.
Sixteen-year-old Cameron Singh Mander swam to three top 20 places in all three of his breaststroke events.
At the Age Group Championships, Dunn once again claimed the highest place finish for City.
She finished in fifth place in the girls 14 years 200m breaststroke.
Swimming in the 11/12 years age group Keira Hinchcliffe covered the 400m freestyle in a time of 5.05.84 to finish inside the top 10 in ninth place.
