BRADFORD'S Dean Harrison got his Isle of Man TT campaign off to a great start with the fastest lap time on the opening day of qualifying.

Harrison won the Supersport crown last year and continued where he left off with a best lap of 126.09mph, out of the six he completed on the Silicone Engineering Racing Kawasaki ZX6R.

His time was set in challenging weather conditions, with riders having to negotiate strong winds on the mountain section.

Michael Dunlop - riding his MD Racing Honda CBR600RR bike - managed 123.90mph, Conor Cummins went round at an average of 123.71mph on his fifth lap of the session and Jamie Coward and Gary Johnson also impressed.

Coward proved even more formidable on the lower powered lightweight machine, clocking a 119.96mph, pushing last year's class winner Dunlop into second on the day at 118.52mph and RC Express Racing new recruit Paul Jordan repaid the team's faith at 117.45mph.

Meanwhile, Bingley rider Ian Hutchinson was also in the qualifying session, riding the Honda Racing 600 for the second year and looking strong. He finished 12th quickest completing a lap in 18:47.756 mins over five laps.
