THE destination of the division one, two and three titles is cut and dried in the Bradford Table Tennis League – but it's a different story in the fourth tier.

Hermits I and Baildon D are favourites with third-placed Unity C still having an outside chance.

The top two met for the third time this season with each team having won their home fixture.

Hermits I were hoping home advantage would prove crucial in this vital meeting and they promoted Anthony Burrow from the K team where he has been carrying all before him.

Hermits had a three-point lead but Baildon had a game in hand, so a win was essential for Hermits to increase their advantage.

Baildon led 3-2 at halfway thanks to a brace from Jerry Harkawy and a single from Shirley Toulmin. Burrow and Stewart Varley replied for Hermits and those two swung the match with three in a row – Burrow justifying his promotion with an impressive treble.

John Jennison took the last singles for Baildon with a five-game win over Mick Raine, and in a crucial doubles Harkawy and Toulmin came from 2-1 down to pip Burrow and Raine 12-10 in the fifth. The draw gives Baildon the edge with their game in hand.

Unity C were 7-3 winners over Hermits J thanks to trebles from Ayub Hussain and Mark Tattersfield. However, barring some unlikely results they have too much ground to make up on the top two.
