THE EMBASSY Yeadon club are having a fine season in the Bradford Table Tennis League with the Division One title a near certainty for their A team.

The C and D teams are in the top three in Division Two, with the C team favourites to land the title.

The exception are Embassy Yeadon B who are battling for survival at the bottom end of Division One.

It looks like a straight fight between them and Pudsey A as to who goes down with Unity B. Embassy Yeadon B earned a vital six points from their clash with Hermits A.

Ian Marshall moved up from the C team for Embassy and he took two singles.

Kevin Pickles and Fred Yeung won one each as Embassy Yeadon led 4-3. Steve Brailsford starred for Hermits with a treble and Richard Aitken took two as they moved 5-4 ahead but Marshall and Pickles took the doubles.

With Pudsey A taking only one point from their match with Embassy Yeadon A, there is only one point between the two teams with Embassy having a game in hand. Every set will be crucial for these two teams in the final weeks of the season.

It has been a tough season for Hermits D and E in Division Two with both teams destined for the drop.

They have managed a win each in the two meetings so far and the third encounter went the way of Hermits E, with George Bak leading the way. He won three singles, Andrew Rawnsley took two and Kath Manogue won one as Hermits E won 6-4.
