A BRADFORD youngster proved a knockout hit at the Brendan Ingle Show in Sheffield to earn plaudits from Kell Brook.

Luqman Siddique, of Girlington-based Lights Out Academy, put in an impressive performance to beat his opponent after three rounds.

The 12-year-old's display caught the eye of former IBF world welterweight champion Brook, who was watching at the show in honour of Sheffield's famous trainer Ingle.

Coach Inzar Ahmed said: “Kell Brook was impressed with Luqman's boxing skills and congratulated him afterwards.

"Luqman was over the moon. He has been training every day."

It was the latest feather in the Academy’s hat following success at a boxing show in Derby.

Ahmed said: "I am so happy. What more can I ask from my fighters, who are listening and training hard.

"People are asking what the secret is. There is no secret, it's just hard work and commitment. We don’t possess any special powers."

Ahmed is delighted the club's hard work is paying off and having an impact within the community.

He said: "More and more young men are leaving gangs and joining the gym. I am overwhelmed.

"I want Bradford to be great and safe again. The club has a mixed diversity of people and I will work till my last to see this happen."

Lights Out are back in action next week when Michael Kanci fights in Leeds.
