A BRADFORD boxing academy hit triple at an event on Sunday.

The Lights Out Boxing Academy, based in Girlington, sent three young competitors to the Prospects ABC Homeshow, in Derby.

Prospects, an amateur boxing club, had Tyson Fury's assistant manager, Asgar Tair, host the show which was made up of 16 bouts.

John Fury, Tyson Fury's dad, was also at the event alongside heavyweight boxer - David Allen, known as the "White Rhino".

First time competitor, Zohaib Khan, was the first to step up for Lights Out.

The 50kg, 14-year-old, joined the club just over a year ago and was lacking confidence according to head coach, Inzar Ahmed.

But, he took no prisoners in his first ever amateur fight and stopped his opponent one minute and 12 seconds into the first round after a quick start.

Lights Out's second representative to take to the ring was another 14-year-old.

Auzair Rashid, 52kg, trains in Bradford every week, despite having to travel all the way from Leicester for his sessions.

The dedication and hard-work paid off during his bout though, as he beat his opponent from Grange Catholics ABC, Wales, with a unanimous decision.

The final boxer showing his class for Lights Out was Hishaam Deluca, 17, who weighed in at 61kg.

Deluca, who once played football for Bradford City and Man City, was also pitted against a fighter from Grange Catholics ABC.

Coach Ahmed described Deluca as a "mini Mike Tyson" and said he showed "frightening power" to halt his challenger in the third round of the battle.

The coach added: "Bradford has a lot of problems and being a young person isn't easy - it just goes to show that young people in Bradford have potential and the eye of the tiger.

"Its been a tough eight months getting these lads ready mentally and physically - they are the ones who are going to take the hits."

Lights Out will fight again this Thursday in Sheffield at a Brendan Ingle tribute show - organised in memory of the trainer and former boxer who died last May.

Coach Ahmed said: "This time, it's Luqman Siddique, 12 - definitely one to watch out for as a rising prospect."
