DIVISION Three leaders Hermits E are one of only two teams in the Bradford League with a 100 per cent record – and they were indebted to Stuart Beaumont for keeping their perfect tag against Baildon C.

Hermits led 2-0 and 4-2 but were pegged back as the Baildon duo of Shirley Toulmin and Jerry Harkawy won two each to put Hermits' unbeaten record at risk.

Beaumont had won his first two singles, while Azim Afzal and Mohammed Murtaza both overcame John Jennison, and at 4-4 it was Beaumont who saw Hermits over the finishing line.

He won the last singles against Jennison and joined Afzal to take the doubles for a 6-4 overall victory.

In Division One, Highdale A are in an unaccustomed mid-table position and they had Richard Whiteley to thank for sharing the points from a 5-5 draw at Hermits A.

Highdale had recorded two 9-1 victories over Hermits earlier this season but, with Sam Clayton in their line-up, Hermits were a tougher nut to crack this time.

Clayton won his three singles and, with Richard Aitken and Fazal Hussain taking one each, Hermits led 5-3.

The last two matches were similar as Whiteley came from 2-1 down to pip Aitken 11-8 in the fifth game.

Then in the doubles he joined Jonathan Caspi to come from 2-1 down and take the last two games 11-9, 11-8 for a hard-earned draw.

In Division Four, Baildon D did their clubmates from the E team a favour by logging a fine win over promotion-chasing Hermits H.

Baildon E are in second place, just one point ahead of Hermits following the D team's success.

Allen Pollard and Stephen Hirst both won three each as well as the doubles without dropping a game for Baildon.
