HERMITS A gained only their second victory of the season, and their first at home in Division One of the Bradford League, and they had Sam Clayton to thank against Yeadon A.

This was Clayton's first appearance of the season for Hermits and he made it a memorable one with an unbeaten performance.

Hermits led 3-1, with two wins by Clayton and one from Richard Aitken.

Yeadon levelled as Fred Yeung pipped Aitken 11-8 in the fifth game and Laing Wong beat Fazal Hussain 3-0.

However, Clayton put Hermits back in front against Yeung and Hussain gained a crucial win over Mark Griffin to make it 5-3.

In the last singles, Wong came from 2-1 down to pip Aitken, but Hermits sealed the points with Clayton and Aitken taking the doubles 3-1 to complete a 6-4 overall verdict.

In Division Three, Baildon C and Pudsey C are neck and neck in third and fourth and, not surprisingly, they had a tight contest.

Pudsey had Sandra Rider to thank as they came from behind to share the spoils 5-5.

Baildon led early on, with Shirley Toulmin and Jerry Harkawy both winning two and John Jennison adding a single.

Rider was unbeaten for Pudsey but they trailed 5-3.

Steve Smith took the last singles against Jennison, before Rider and Lynne Thompson captured the doubles for parity.

Hermits H maintained their push for promotion from Division Four with a comfortable victory over stablemates Hermits I.

Stewart Varley and George Raine were both unbeaten, with Mick Raine adding a single.

John Rawnsley and John Margerison took one each for the I team but Hermits H won 8-2 to stay on the heels of Baildon E as they fight for second place behind leaders Thornbury A.
