BRADFORD-based mixed martial arts academy Team Fulinkazan brought home nine medals, including three gold, during a busy week of competition.

Hollie Rowley collected two of those at the Grapple Nation competition in Manchester, with the other top prize picked up by Saleem Janeral.

Robin Stern, Mohammed Ali, Davis Kaposts, Tom Appleyard and Johnny Canavan all earned bronze medals at the event.

This was after Joanne Doyle, the current European champion, collected one at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation world championship in Bahrain.

Team Fulinkazan coach Mark Spencer picked out Doyle's success as having spurred on the rest of the team to dominate proceedings in Manchester.

He said: "What an amazing week. Again we have students competing at an international level, with Jo Doyle doing a fantastic job at the world championship.

"The guys who headed over to Manchester were obviously inspired by Jo's achievement, picking up eight medals with only ten students competing."

Spencer is now looking forward to upcoming events and carrying on the team's success.

"Next up for us is the Almighty Mixed Martial Arts Championship in Leeds," he said.

"We've got four people fighting, with Jabeed Rahman, Jack Temple and Jamal Raja all going for titles. It will be Tom Mullen's first fight after winning the British title in September as well."
