THE Bradford Billiards Championship takes place on Saturday at Cue Gardens, where Trevor Kershaw will be looking to retain his title after beating Paul Devitt in last year's final.

Entrants are guaranteed a minimum of three one-hour matches during the round-robin stages, with the exact overall format being dependent on the number of entries.

Registration for the event will be up to 11.45am, with the competition set to get underway at noon.

Entry fee is £12, and further information is available from tournament director Stephen Kershaw (07815-014198).

Kershaw and his Bradford team narrowly missed out on claiming the Yorkshire Inter-District League, having headed the table leading into the final matches.

This was a successful season for the side, however, despite them finishing third on 54 points.

They were only beaten by two strong sides, with Huddersfield No 1 claiming the title on 56 points and Harrogate being runners-up on 55.

The E Rosse Hopkinson Plate snooker final takes place next Thursday at East Ward Labour Club, with Baildon Woodbottom taking on Fields A.

Matches are to start at 7.45pm and players are requested to dress appropriately for a final. No jeans or trainers should be worn.

The Yorkshire Snooker Pairs Championship will take place on Sunday, May 21 at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, with the presentation night and Yorkshire Championship final between Peter Fisher (Castleford) and Johnathon Bagley (Leeds) taking place on Friday, May 26, also at the Northern.

Further details will appear nearer the time.
