MATT Hollingworth (Overthorpe) has won the Spen Valley Individual Merit after defeating Frank Griffin (Mirfield Old Bank) 21-20 in the final. Hollingworth bowled superbly all day and, after the disappointment of losing in the final of Spen Valley Pairs in the morning, he took the individual title in the afternoon against the experienced Griffin.

The pairs finals got under way at 10.30am at Spen Victoria, with the Littlemoor father-and-son pairing of John and Marc Armitage taking the title after beating Hollingworth and clubmate Adam Douglas 21-19 in the final.

It was a fantastic achievement by Hollingworth, who played seven games during the day.
