MEDALS were hard to come by as City of Bradford swimmers competed against rivals from around the country in the Leeds October Meet.
The event attracted a big presence from the prestigious Loughborough University to the John Charles Centre for Sport, which meant even places in finals were tough to achieve.
City of Bradford finalists included nine-year-old Sophia Basaraba. She swam to two top-ten finishes – in the 200 metres breaststroke, when she finished a creditable fourth, and 200m freestyle, finishing in fifth place.
Joey Backhouse, swimming in the ten years age group, finished tenth in the 200m individual medley.
Azura Cairns-Poole and Abigail Shuttleworth, in the 15-and-over competition, finished eight in the 200m butterfly and tenth in the 400m individual medley respectively.
Sam O'Donohoe made a return to competitive swimming and earned two personal-best times in the 15-and-over events.
