SIMON Pugh has returned to the Bradford Winter Table Tennis League to help Dewsbury-Sedbergh push for Division One honours.

Pugh is a proven performer at this level and if Sedbergh can get Ivan Lewis playing often enough, they could be in with a shout at the top.

Sedbergh maintained their unbeaten start at Fastbats A but were given a fright by the home side.

Pugh won his opening two sets against Craig Knowles and Tony Hutton, while Yonny Caspi also beat Hutton.

Fastbats then won three in a row as Knowles and Hutton overcame Steve Morris and Tony McGowan had a great win over Caspi.

But Sedbergh finished strongly as Pugh stopped McGowan and Caspi mastered Knowles, leaving the Sedbergh pair to clinch victory in the doubles.

In Division Two, Unity C made it three wins out of three – which is more than they managed in the whole of last season – as they came from behind to beat Laisterdyke A.

Faz Hussain was in fine form for Laisterdyke with three wins but Dave Rawlins and Dave Renton won two each for Unity.

Jim Ferry added a single and Unity clinched the points when Rawlins and Ferry easily won the doubles.
