Junior Witter is braced for "guerrilla warfare" against Arturo Morua in London tomorrow night.

The Bradford world champion is the heavy favourite to defend his WBC light-welterweight title in style at Alexandra Palace.

Sixteenth-ranked Morua, who has not forced a stoppage for five years, is seen as a straightforward start ahead of potentially much bigger names later in the year.

But trainer Dominic Ingle has warned Witter to be wary of the Mexican's approach.

Ingle said: "I've watched a few of his fights and he can blow hot and cold. He's beaten some good guys like Carlos Maussa and lost to some basic ones but that makes him the worst kind of opponent.

"You can watch the tape and see nothing sparkling then suddenly they can come out and terrify you.

"Morua likes to come in and have a fight. He'll hit you with two or three shots and then step away and walk around the ring.

"He's a bit of a guerrilla fighter because he can hit you and then skirt away. It's a bit like trying to swat a fly."

Morua has been sparring in Japan and Mexico and is not fazed by the prospect of fighting away from home.

"My last 12 fights have been outside of Mexico," said the 28-year-old from Guadalajara. "I'm used to it and I've improved a great deal.

"I have seen Witter's last four fights on DVD and he's a good fighter. He moves well but he is also a clown - and Mexicans don't like clowns."

Witter is itching to get going again in the same ring where he won the belt against DeMarcus Corley four months ago - and he is well aware that holding the title means he is there to be shot at.

Witter said: "Becoming champion is my reward for all the time and effort I've put in over the years. It's worth all the ups and downs that life throws at you.

"It still feels a bit weird in certain aspects but I'm comfortable with it and I also know how much it would mean to my opponent to beat me.

"He is going to have the fight of his life if I let him, so I've got to perform. He will never have a better chance of winning the world title and I'm not going to let him."
