Second-leg matches in the Hopkinson Plate semi-finals take place tonight with Tong Libs B hosting Laisterdyke WMC B and Eccleshill WMC A entertaining West Bowling Social Club.

The winners will meet in the final on Thursday December 7 (7.30) at Undercliffe Cricket Club.

Bradford's teams are back in action this weekend in the Yorkshire League.

The snooker teams will be playing their last match until the New Year, with Bradford No 1 taking on Barnsley at Great Horton Conservative Club (7.30) and Bradford No 2 travelling to Wakefield No 2.

Both billiards sides are away, with Richard Lodge's No 1 side making the journey to Harrogate and Brian Watson's No 2 side at defending champions Huddersfield No 1.

In the Bradford Amateur Championships, defending singles Champion Wayne Cooper cruised through to the next round with a 4-0 victory over Tony Devanney, while there were also good wins for Howard Mawson (4-0) against Anthony Herdsman, Alex McCann (4-0) over Michael Sharp, Richard Hagerty (4-1) against A Downey and Paul Jackson (4-1) against Chris Brannan, with Brannan making a 66 break in winning his frame - the highest in the competition to date.

In the pairs, three tight matches produced 3-2 scorelines. Martyn Howarth and Bill Gillespie triumphed over Sharp and Nigel Stebbings, Hagerty and partner Mally Rushforth edged out Hanif Rafiq and Boover Singh, while John and Eric Poynton knocked out J Parsons and J James. Brannan, with partner Simon Bedford, beat Lee Whittaker and John Madden jnr 3-0.

Players are reminded the deadline for completion of matches is next Thursday.

Clubs entering either the Hey's Trophy or Moorhouse Shield have until Saturday December 2. The handicaps will be reviewed in early December by a handicapping committee and the draw will be made in mid-December.

The deadline for entries into the EASB English Amateur Singles Championship is December 4 and anyone wishing to enter can obtain further information and entry forms from me. The Northern qualifiers will be played on January 6 and 7.
