Bradford Dragons men ended their season with a brace of losses in vcars.co.uk Division One.

They faced Team Northumbria, who are battling for league position, on Saturday, and lost 84-55 in a physical encounter.

Dragons' scoring was led by Ricky Fetske with 14 points, while Northumbria were led by Jack Thompson with 15 points.

Dragons' head coach Chris Mellor was unhappy with his team's performance, saying: "I was really disappointed with our display defensively - we just didn't compete hard enough.

"Offensively that was as bad as we have been all year with too much dribbling and low-percentage quick shots.

"Credit to Northumbria though as poor offence is normally a product of good defence and I thought they were excellent in all areas. The scoreline did not flatter them."

Bradford then faced a long trip to Reading to face league champion the Rockets for their last game of the season.

Dragons put on a spirited display as they took Reading all the way to the final seconds, only losing 72-66.

Bradford's scoring was led by Rihards Sulcs with 22 points, while the Rockets were led by Lewis Champion with 16 points.

Coach Mellor was pleased with his side's showing this time, saying: "Unlike the night before we competed for the full 40 minutes and we played much better overall. Ultimately a few calls at the end and the ability to hit some big perimeter shots were the deciding factors."

Dragons' playing and coaching staff will now take a well-deserved break before returning in July to start building towards the 2013-14 season.

Bradford's management are already working hard on putting together a roster that will challenge for silverware.
