Two of Bradford's top players made it through to the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Snooker Championships after negotiating the qualifying stage.

Three-time Bradford champion and 2010 Yorkshire title-winner Gareth Green came through the field, making the day's highest break of 113 along the way, and also qualifying was three-time Yorkshire champion and nine-times Bradford champion Wayne Cooper.

However, Cooper had to come from two frames to nil down against fellow Bradfordian Howard Mawson to snatch a 3-2 victory.

The other two players to make it to the last eight were from the host club and main sponsors, The Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds - Sanderson Lam and last season's runner-up Oliver Lines.

The second qualifying stage takes place on Sunday, March 24, when Kevin Firth, Damian Wilks and Russell Morgan will be in action attempting to make the latter stages, which will be played towards the end of April.

Green, who plays out of Lifeline Leisure, is still on course to make it four consecutive Bradford Snooker Championship titles after reaching the semi-finals via a 4-3 victory over Wibsey Conservative's Wilks.

The deadline for the completion of matches for both the singles and the pairs is Sunday, March 10.

The second legs in the Hey's Trophy and Hopkinson Plate are to be played tomorrow night.

The next round will be played on Thursdays March 21 and 28.
