Bingley Bees 2, Wakefield Women-3 2

The home side came up against tough opponents in this Yorkshire Women's Premier Division match.

The visitors began strongly and it wasn't long before their pressure became too much for the Bingley defence, Wakefield going 1-0 up.

However, Bingley retaliated, with Gail Day's strike leaving the visiting keeper standing, and the hosts then had a motivating half-time team talk between all players.

In the second half, Wakefield raised their game and Bingley made the strategic decision to move striker Mel Burgess to sweeper, which earned her the man-of-the-match award!

Despite the switch, however, Burgess still managed to lift the ball past the keeper to put the home side ahead.

A series of short corners for the visitors meant it was only a matter of time, though, before Wakefield capitalised to finish the game evenly.

Huddersfield 0, Bingley Bees-2 3

Bingley Bees Seconds had a morning kick-off at Leeds Road in Yorkshire Women's Division Four.

After disappointing defeats, the Bees were inspired by a pre-match team talk and put into place a structured and organised game-plan.

This change in approach was a turning point as the visitors controlled the game from the outset.

Midfielder Jules Carroll was the key to the dynamics of the team, her controlled, precise passing and excellent work-rate earning her the joint player of the match award.

Bees took the lead with a clean shot by striker Sian Porter, and she scored her second from a goalmouth scramble.

Despite trailing, Huddersfield came fighting back and were not without chances, only to be denied by the athleticism and agility of Bees keeper Rachel Fuller, who was also joint man of the match.

Jane Sharkey made it 3-0 after 45 minutes.

Bingley Bees 7, Halifax-4 0

The visitors had not won a game this season, but skipper Ben Clough warned against complacency before this Yorkshire Men's Division Six North clash.

However, the match went the way of Bees almost from the start, with a number of opportunities falling to the forwards and attacking midfielders.

They were frustrated until the 21st minute when Clough finally got the ball over the line, and three minutes later he doubled the lead with a penalty flick after Dennis Valentiner-Branth was brought down in the D.

The Bees went into the second half full of running and confidence, and it took just five minutes for Clough to complete his hat-trick, when a deflection put the ball straight to him just a few metres from goal.

Valentiner-Branth added a fourth in the ninth minute and an unfortunate defender's deflection three minutes later allowed James Pearson to get on the scoresheet.

Robbie Manning got the sixth goal in the 20th minute with a shot which beat a now luckless and dejected Halifax defence at the near post, and, with the last shot of the match, Pearson got his second from a well-struck short corner.

With only a few points separating the top seven sides, the Bees have leapt up to fourth place.
