LEE Evans is back at Valley Parade after a 10-year absence.
City beat the deadline to sign the experienced midfielder from Blackpool on a deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old was instrumental in Phil Parkinson’s side that finished fifth in League One to reach the play-offs in 2016.
Evans played 42 games on a season-long loan from Wolves and scored four goals. The last of those at Southend clinched City’s play-off place before they were beaten in the semi-finals by Millwall.
Now he returns to the club a decade on with the aim of playing his part in another promotion push.
Evans said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Valley Parade, my first time here was full of great times, and I am looking forward to creating some more.

“I cannot wait to be back out on that pitch in front of all you fans, giving my all for this club.
"The lads have made a brilliant start this season, and I am excited to come in and help both on and off the pitch and continue our progress and fight for every point.”
City boss Graham Alexander added: “Lee will bring us great experience and added strength in central midfield.
“He competes well and has an excellent passing range. His track record of success adds another winner to the group, and we are very happy to have him join us “
Evans, capped four times by Wales, has gone up three times from the third tier with Wolves in 2014, Wigan four years later – where he was a teammate of Max Power and Curtis Tilt - and Ipswich in 2023.
He had a brief spell at Portsmouth the following year after leaving Ipswich through injury before joining Blackpool, playing 76 games with seven goals and seven assists. He played in the same side as Matt Pennington last season.
Evans has made 24 league appearances this term for the Tangerines – 11 of them from the bench including at Valley Parade in September. He was an unused sub in City’s 2-1 win a month ago.
