MK Dons boss Mike Williamson called their home loss to City “tough to swallow”.
His side went down 2-1 in front of new owner Fahad Al Ghanim at Stadium MK yesterday.
Dons conceded twice in the first five minutes from Alex Pattison’s long-range strike and an own goal sliced in by defender Sam Sherring – one of seven home debutants.
“It was in our hands which makes it frustrating,” admitted Williamson. “We need it be a massive lesson.
“We don't want this to be a familiar feeling of dominating a game and coming away with no points.
“I don't feel like we got undone tactically but a 25-yard shot and a deflected shot in the first five minutes was a tough one to swallow.”
Williamson won his first home game at the Dons helm against City last season and felt they created enough chances to have repeated the trick.
He added: “On another day, we score three or four goals.
“We got into the 18-yard box numerous times, so there are positives and you can look at how easily we cut through them at times.
“But I'm not interested in that at the moment, just the things we didn't do well.”
