CITY’S walkers raised over £11,000 on the March of the Day for Stephen Darby’s MND foundation.

The three-day trek, which united the football and motor neurone disease communities, set off from Valley Parade on Friday morning on the way to the final destination at Anfield yesterday afternoon.

Plenty of fans were there to greet the intrepid fund-raisers as they finally walked through the famous gates at Liverpool.

The route took in plenty of football grounds along the way including Elland Road, Huddersfield, Old Trafford and Manchester City.

City legend Darby and former Huddersfield striker Marcus Stewart, who also has the deadly disease, were both involved as well as fellow MND sufferer Rob Burrow.

The contingent from the Bantams walked the first day route to Leeds and Huddersfield before re-joining yesterday for the final leg from Wigan to Anfield.

The event has collected more than £132,000 so far in aid of research to try and find a cure.
