THREE young players from Liverpool’s Carabao Cup winners may have looked familiar to Bantams fans.

James McConnell, Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni were all part of Jurgen Klopp’s youthful squad that beat Chelsea in extra-time in yesterday’s final at Wembley.

The trio had all featured for Liverpool’s under-21s against City at Valley Parade in the EFL Trophy in December.

McConnell came off the bench at Wembley to replace Alexis Mac Allister just before the added period – and was yellow-carded during it.

Koumas and Nyoni were also among the substitutes named by the injury-hit Premier League leaders but did not get on.

But it is some rise from playing in front of just 1,907 against City a couple of months earlier.

The Bantams cruised to a 4-0 win in that second-round tie with a Liverpool team captained by 19-year-old midfielder McConnell.

Koumas was sent off in the first half on the night after a poor tackle on Ciaran Kelly.
