GRAHAM Alexander will try to keep things as normal as he can heading into City’s EFL Trophy semi-final date.

The Bantams are preparing for Wednesday’s Valley Parade showdown with Wycombe in high spirits after making it three league wins on the bounce.

With a potential Wembley visit up for grabs, Alexander will not alter the build-up but accepts there may be plenty of outside noise.

“I’m one part of it,” he said. “The players are going to be exposed to a lot of other stuff.

“You’ve got social media as well as the normal media talking about what the game means.

“But within our group, on the training pitch and in the analysis room, we’re just going to be talking about what we have to do to win a game of football.

“It’s not what it leads to. It’s about focusing our minds on what we have to do.

“I think our players have done that really well and we have to do it again on Wednesday.

“We’ve got to keep the 48 hours before a game as normal as possible and I’m sure we’ll be able to do that.

“We’ve had three fantastic results against different opposition but all difficult and we want to keep building.”

Alexander admits he has not nailed down his Trophy team yet. Richie Smallwood missed Saturday’s win over Sutton through suspension while Kevin McDonald was on the bench.

Jake Young missed out with a sore ankle and Harry Chapman, scorer of the winner in the last round, was not included in the squad.

Alexander added: “We’ve gone into these cup games on the back of some difficult results as well and managed to win.

“We’ve been delighted with how the players have refocused and reset themselves for the next game, regardless of what’s gone on before, and been ready to compete.

“It’s going to be a really hard game playing a team from the league above. But we’re going to give it the best go we can.

“I don’t know what the team will look like at the moment. I’ve got to see how they’ll report this morning.

“They’ve certainly put a shift in over the last week. But I’m sure whichever 11 we choose are going to give it their best shot.”

Tyreik Wright and Calum Kavanagh are both eligible to face the Chairboys.

Kavanagh’s weekend winner was his second goal in successive games.

“Kav has scored two different goals, a poacher’s one by getting in the right position and then a really clinical striker’s finish,” said Alexander.

“He is playing in an aggressive way as we wanted when we watched him. He’s a bundle of energy, he’s direct, he wants to score and is motivated to do good things in his career.

“He’s made a good start. He just needs to make sure he keeps his feet on the ground and keeps that motivation high because he could have a bright future ahead of him.”
