JAKE Young has come through his first full training session since returning to City.

Graham Alexander confirmed that the striker was involved joined in with the squad at Apperley Bridge today as well as Lewis Richards.

Young is yet to be involved since being recalled from Saturday’s opponents Swindon, citing discomfort in his ankle. The Bantams have rejected three bids for him in that time.

Alexander said this afternoon: “Jake has been out on the training pitch. It was his first full day, which was good.

“I need to see the physical data and then see how they are in the morning. It was a heavier load than they have done so far, so it’s all about how they assess the next day.

“That’s with every player. It’s not how they feel straight after but how they feel after a night’s sleep and see if we can include them in the matchday squad.

“If not, then we’ve got the same group that we’ve had for the last few games.”

Alexander revealed that there are three potential targets “from different levels” with a week left of the transfer window.

But he hopes to keep squad numbers the same having got down to what he feels is the ideal amount.

“We’ve had a couple of conversations with other clubs about a couple of players we feel can help us,” he added.

“There are a couple who aren’t involved in their first team at the moment. There’s one who is in somebody else’s first team but we think might be available.

We’ve trimmed the numbers down to a more competitive, manageable level where we can get better training sessions and have every player looking that he can get in the team, rather than three or four being a million miles away from it.

“I believe this group is still capable of winning a lot of games this season. But there’s obviously an issue where we need a bit of help if we can.

“I’m trying to help, the players are trying to help themselves and sometimes that help comes from outside and that’s what we’re going to try and do.

“We don’t know what’s around the corner. We’re down to the best numbers now so we’re not looking to squeeze people out.

“But if one comes in. that might open the door for somebody.

“I feel we have just about the right amount of players at the moment and I want to keep it that way.

“So if there’s any incoming, there needs to be an outgoing if possible as well.”
