CITY have turned down ANOTHER bid for Jake Young.

The Telegraph & Argus understands that a third offer has been made for the striker – which has also been rejected.

It is not thought to have come from the League One sides who have previously been knocked back.

Carlisle confirmed they made an unsuccessful bid while Exeter and Port Vale have also been linked with Young, who still has 18 months left on his contract plus another year’s option in the club’s favour.

That has put City in a strong position to drive a hard bargain for the 22-year-old, who has not been involved since being recalled from his Swindon loan after complaining of soreness in his ankle.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson accused the Bantams of slapping a “ridiculous” price tag on Young – with Graham Alexander hitting back yesterday that he was “wrong” to talk publicly about another club’s player.

Simpson has spoken again about Young to say that Carlisle could afford the price they were quoted but would not pay over the odds.

“What I meant to say was that the fee we’ve been quoted was very, very high and if we felt it was good business for the club we could have done something,” said Simpson.

“I didn’t feel it was good business, as much as I thought Jake Young was a good player.”
