CITY have no immediate plans to bring in another central midfielder to cover the injured Alex Pattison.

He is facing up to another three months out after undergoing a hamstring operation on Tuesday.

But Graham Alexander feels there are enough options in the squad to avoid a transfer-window raid to fill the gap – as long as they keep performing.

“At the moment, I feel we have enough,” he said. “We still need to see the next couple of performances and people following up on them.

“We’ve still got good players in there. We’ve been playing with three central midfielders, on Tuesday we had two, so we can adapt to what we have available.

“We’ve always tried to have that adaptability around our squad, so we’re not a slave to a certain system if players miss out through injury or suspension.

“We have the personnel to pick the teams we want and to win games. But let’s see how the next two or three weeks ago before we confront that situation if there is one.”

Pattison’s surgery went well but the City boss expects a “10-12 week” timeframe before he will be ready to return. Jamie Walker will be back sooner.

Alexander added: “I spoke to Jamie yesterday morning and he’s improved again. Hopefully he’ll be back out on the grass next week, not with us but the medical guys.

“It’s about him progressing as quickly as possible but in the best way. It will be good to get Jamie back with the group.”
