GRAHAM Alexander insists he is under no orders not to play Jake Young.

The striker has not featured for City since being recalled from his Swindon loan.

The club have already knocked back one bid from League One for him.

If he features for the Bantams, Young will not be allowed to play for anyone else this season.

Young was on the treadmill at training this morning after being ruled out for the past two games with a slight injury.

But Alexander stressed that he is free to pick the 22-year-old as and when he is declared fit.

The City boss said: “He’s getting rehab and treatment with the physios.

“As soon as he declares himself fit, he’ll be available for selection. It’s just like any other player with a niggle or an injury and we’ve got three or four.

“He’d have to train first because I’m not going to throw him in the deep end. But as soon as he is available to train, he comes into our thoughts to select.

“There are no guarantees for any player to get into our team. But would he be available for selection and in our thoughts? 100 per cent.

“I work for people, I’m not the boss. I try to keep my focus and influence on the football side of it.

“No one has sat me down and told me you cannot pick Jake Young; not once."

Exeter and Port Vale are two clubs who have been linked with Young. There is also thought to be interest from Carlisle, who earlier today completed the signing of Harry Lewis.

“Everyone has a price tag in the EFL," added Alexander. "We’ve had a bid for Jake and we turned it down because it’s not acceptable to us.

“That’s as far as I know and nothing’s changed from that perspective.

“Another bid could come in for any other player in the next week or so. We just have to be prepared to work with it and do the best for the team.”
