BRADFORD City CEO Ryan Sparks has issued a curt response to Derek Adams’ latest scathing comments about his time at the club, insisting the Scot “ultimately failed” during his time at Valley Parade.

Adams is now the Morecambe manager, but used to be in charge of Plymouth Argyle, with his criticism of the Bantams coming was on Plymouth-based programme, Pilgrims Podcast.

He called the club “one of the smallest inside in the league”, saying it has no structure and did not back down over not apologising to supporters over poor performances.

Though his comment on how Sparks “had spent the club’s money on getting new seats for the stadium” was made in response to the presenter suggesting that Valley Parade needed a bit of a facelift, it is debatable whether that was the Scot leaping to the defence of the Bantams CEO.

With no love lost between the pair, there was probably an element of that comment from Adams being tongue in cheek.

Speaking at new manager Graham Alexander’s unveiling to the press, the T&A asked if Sparks had any response to Adams’ comments.

He told us: “Derek had an excellent budget here.

“To me, those comments sound like a lengthy list of excuses.

“He was someone who ultimately failed here at the job he was given.”
