CITY went down fighting in their FA Cup first-round loss to Wycombe.
T&A chief sports writer SIMON PARKER was at Valley Parade yesterday and provides the match stats and his player ratings.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Jamie Walker was a big attacking threat to Wycombe’s defence when he moved to the left side. The Scot had several chances, scoring one and being denied another by a good save.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH
Jamie Walker’s goal just after the hour point came at a time when City were on top and got the crowd right behind them in a stirring second half.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
City were culpable with both Wycombe goals – two more that would have been avoided without individual mistakes. That left them a big hill to climb and they almost did.
TACTICS
Mark Trueman made two changes from the last league outing for his one – and expected to be only – game in caretaker charge.
Matty Platt’s toe injury at Sutton meant he missed out as Ash Taylor took his place at centre half. Bobby Pointon was also recalled on the right of midfield for Clarke Oduor.
Kevin McDonald was included on a nine-man bench on his 35th birthday.
