KEVIN McDonald will keep sticking his head above the parapet as City fans grow impatient for a new manager to be confirmed.

An appointment is likely to be in the offing after consecutive away defeats dropped the Bantams to 16th in the table.

The interview process is understood to have taken place over the past fortnight as the club draw up a short-list – which could include their current caretaker boss.

Dean Holden and Danny Cowley head the list with the bookies to be named the permanent successor to Mark Hughes, who was sacked nearly four weeks ago.

McDonald agrees that a decision is needed but remains focused on what is happening on the pitch.

He said: “I speak to (chief executive) Ryan (Sparks). I’ve got no problem facing up to defeats just as much as I talk to him after we win.

“Whatever it is in the grand scheme of things, that’s just part of football.

“From a managerial and a club point of view, we know we need to get a solution.

“It’s one of those things. We’ve spoken regularly and will continue to do so.

“Until the right decision is made, whatever it may be, then we’ll just continue as it is.

“I’m not overly fixated on that. I want to win football matches for these players and for the club.”

McDonald was hugely frustrated with yesterday’s 2-1 loss at bottom club Sutton – his fifth game at the helm. City were also beaten 4-1 by MK Dons earlier in the week.

“I won’t try to shift the blame because we lose football games,” he added. “I’m not like that as a player and I won’t be like that as a person.

“That doesn’t faze me in that sense.

“Am I disappointed and fuming that we’ve not won the game? 100 per cent but I’ll continue until I’m told otherwise.”
