BRADFORD City Women began life after Nick Buxton with a 3-1 defeat at Barnsley FC Ladies in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division on Sunday.
Buxton left the club earlier this month after just three competitive games in charge, with chairman Qasim Akhtar saying the former boss was “not the right person to take them forward”.
And while City search for a new permanent manager, they still have games to play.
Up against Barnsley Ladies in a Yorkshire derby over the weekend, the Bantams came off second best.
Madison Foye was the hero for the hosts, netting twice, while Jodie Gregory also found the net for the South Yorkshire side.
Barnsley FC Ladies, who are affiliated with the men’s side, are not to be confused with Barnsley Women.
Barnsley Women, who brought in Bantams stalwarts Charlotte Stuart and Katy Woodcock over the summer, play in the division above their namesakes and City, in the FA Women’s National League Division One North.
Stuart and Woodcock have helped Barnsley Women to the summit of their division, while in theirs, the Bantams have dropped to eighth, winning one and losing two of their first three league games.
