JAKE Young is in the running to be named League Two player of the month after a sensational start to his Swindon loan.

The Bantams striker netted seven goals in just four games to kick off the campaign in explosive style.

That included four in just 24 minutes against Crawley as well as a double at Wrexham. Young also added three assists for Michael Flynn’s men.

Former Valley Parade team-mate Abo Eisa is also on the shortlist for the award after staging his own goal of the month competition at new club Grimsby.

Eisa, released by Mark Hughes at the end of last season, has let fly with a trio of strikes from outside the box among his four goals in five games.

The pick of those were two absolute stunners against Mansfield and Walsall.

Mansfield’s Davis Keillor-Dunn, denied by a good save from Harry Lewis at the weekend, and Newport’s Will Evans make up the nomination.

Meanwhile, the first manager of the month for the new season will be between Graham Alexander of MK Dons, Gillingham’s Neil Harris, Johnny Jackson at Wimbledon and Luke Williams of leaders Notts County.

The results will be announced on Friday morning.
