CITY will be without both Alex Gilliead and Jamie Walker for Saturday’s clash at Morecambe.
Mark Hughes confirmed that the duo are sidelined for the game against their former manager Derek Adams.
But he is keeping his fingers crossed that their absence will be brief.
Gilliead came off at half-time in Tuesday’s draw at Stockport while Walker took a painful whack on the ankle in the Colchester game.
Hughes said this afternoon: “Gilly’s got a little bit of a problem at the top of the thigh. He said that it feels okay.
“Clearly, he’s got something going on so he’s not going to be available at the weekend. But hopefully it’s not too damaging in terms of weeks out.
“Hopefully it will settle down very quickly and resolve itself and we’ll get him back as quick as we can.
“Jamie has still got a lot of swelling round the ankle. It’s only a matter of days after a really poor challenge on him initially.
“He’s happier, if you can be with a really sore ankle, but the swelling is coming down day on day.
“It may well take a little bit of time because of the severity of the whack that he took. But Jamie’s one of those who will put his hand up when he feels he can manage the pain.
“The ankle will be sore but it’s about pain management and whether he feels it’s good enough that it won’t impair his performance.”
The City boss also confirmed that Ash Taylor remains out with his Achilles injury from the opening day.
