Lee Greenwood thought he and Brian Noble had helped Bulls shake off their “inconsistent” tag, and he does not want to see that creeping back into their game.

Bradford could not string a run together under previous head coach Mark Dunning, but when Greenwood and Noble took charge, they immediately went five unbeaten.

And though a heavy defeat in Toulouse was backed up by a thumping win over Keighley, Bulls failed to build on the latter on Monday night, producing a sloppy performance in a defeat to a Widnes side who had just lost five games on the bounce.

Greenwood, who began 2023 as Dunning’s assistant, told the T&A after the Widnes game: “Earlier in the season, we’d put in one performance, then one where we wouldn’t show up.

“We had that inconsistency and we’ve worked hard to eradicate that and we were heading in the right direction.

“We’ve took a couple of knocks recently and the next challenge is to go again and put a run together.

“The games are coming thick and fast and they’re hard. Every game is a challenge and every team is fighting for something.

“It’s a tough old division and if you take your eye off the ball once you get beaten.

“You see that every week, it’s what we’ve done tonight for whatever reason.

“We had a lot of individuals under par and that’s what you get.”
