Bradford City loanee Daniel Oyegoke is at a Premier League club, in the same Brentford B side as Romeo Beckham no less, but says the Bantams are his only focus for now.

That does not mean he is planning for life in the top-flight though, saying: “Everything I’m doing in my career is with the goal of reaching that Premier League level one day.

“But right now, I’m doing what I need to do to help Bradford where I can, those are my goals for now.

“I just want to give my best for Bradford, I’m not too focused on what’s ahead of me in the future, but rather what I do now.”

He has already made an impression at his parent club though, helping them to win the Premier League Cup in May, alongside David Beckham’s second oldest child.

Oyegoke said: “Romeo’s a top guy, who works hard every day.

“He’s been through a lot to get to this stage and he’s signed on there for another year so I’m happy for him.

“Neil Macfarlane and Sam Saunders (Oyegoke’s mentors at Brentford) are top coaches and top people and I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me.

“Winning silverware never hurts either, so it was great to do that last season.”

It has been a busy few months for Oyegoke, who was part of the England squad that reached the last-16 of the Under-20 World Cup a few weeks ago.

That came a year after he played his part in the England Under-19s’ Euros triumph.

Reflecting on his time with the national side, he said: “It’s massive.

“You dream of representing your country when you’re younger, so to have done it so much at youth level has been huge for me.

“I’m ready to keep working hard though, and keep kicking on now to reach that next level.”

Oyegoke has represented England right up from Under-16s level, which coincided with his time at Premier League giants Arsenal.

Being associated with one of the world’s most famous clubs will always be on his CV, and he will have picked up plenty of defensive attributes learning from one of the best.

He said: “I went over there from Barnet and my few years at Arsenal played a real part in my development.

“(Former Germany international) Per Mertesacker is the head of Arsenal’s academy and he’s had a big influence on where I am in my career now.”
