Heath Richardson has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract with Bradford City AFC.

The deal will see the Bantams academy graduate enter his second season as a professional, and remain a part of Mark Hughes’ City squad for the 2023/24 campaign.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper signed his maiden professional contract one year ago today, and worked alongside Harry Lewis and Colin Doyle in the club’s goalkeeping department last season.

He said: “I am delighted to be here for another year. I really enjoyed my first year and am looking forward to the season ahead.

“The goalkeeping group we have here has been great for me. I have learned a lot and watching Harry play every week taught me loads as well.

“It would have been better to go all the way last year, so hopefully we can do that this time around. I am looking forward to being involved with it all again, and playing as much as possible.”

Goalkeeping coach Doyle added: “We are delighted to have Heath with us again this year.

“He progressed well over the course of last season, which was his first as a professional.

“He is great to have around the group, trains well and is always keen to learn.

“It will benefit him again this year, training in the first-team environment, and he will continue to play in the bounce fixtures we have, which are a step up from under-18s football.”
