AS expected, Romoney Crichlow will not be returning to Valley Parade, after his move to Peterborough United was confirmed this afternoon.

The young centre-half was brought in on loan for the season from neighbours Huddersfield Town, and proved to a revelation at the heart of City’s defence, showing all the makings of becoming a top-class defender, as well as someone who was extremely comfortable on the ball.

The 24-year-old appeared 34 times in League Two last season, helping the Bantams keep 13 clean sheets while he was on the pitch.

His fine assist allowed Andy Cook to score the winner at Salford last October, while his injury-time strike at promotion rivals Northampton in April secured a last-gasp win over the Cobblers.

But with City missing out on going up, it always seemed unlikely that Crichlow and fellow loanee Scott Banks would return to fourth-tier football.

And so it has proved, with Crichlow joining League One side Posh on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Huddersfield.

He told the club website: “I am good mates with (Peterborough winger) Eprhon Mason-Clark so he was obviously keen for me to come here, but when I met the manager, he did a very good presentation about how I would fit in here and it really was an easy decision after that.

“I really enjoyed my loan at Bradford last season, I managed to play a lot of games and we obviously reached the play-offs.

“For me now, it is about the next stage.

“I am pleased everything is sorted out early in pre-season, I can now concentrate on training with the lads and getting to know them ahead of the friendly fixtures.

“I am really looking forward to the season now.”
